A Great Egret in the Napa Valley Wetlands. Fun Fact: The Great Egret was almost forced to extinction due to excess hunting for their plumes in the 19th Century. Some of the very first animal protection laws for the US are the result of this beautiful bird’s protections now seen more commonly in the Napa Wetlands area. Not only beautiful but our Great Egrets are of historic importance in animal protection laws.
