Review:Removing Barriers to State Occupational Licenses To Enhance Entrepreneurial Job Growth: Out of Prison, Out of Work by Author & Executive Coach Chris Edwards“This work is a comprehensive review of the flaws of the legislative process in which felons are penalized post incarceration with punitive laws that prevent gainful employment. The judicial system was crafted to create justice and once an individual has served their time or paid their debt to society then they should be able to rebuild their lives and regain employment without a lifetime of punishment. The policy recommendation contained in this book is an outline of the cause and effect of a broken system and a policy recommendation to remove the barriers of licensing in a variety of businesses to allow ex-felons to return back to work and become productive contributing members of society. This book is timely, needs to happen and every legislative representative at the state and national level of every state and the federal level should be required to read this recommendation. Every civics class in America should have a copy and discuss. Get a copy today and let’s achieve legitimate jobs security for all Americans.” – Martha Robinson’s Judicial Justice Report Recommended Reading
From the Author
“This book is very personal. The founding fathers crafted a system of justice that was built upon a foundation of fair and equitable punishment for a crime or an act and then allow the individual back into society without issue to contribute and rebuilt a productive taxpaying life. The system that exists today forces many individuals back into a life of crime all because they can’t get gainful employment that pays a living wage. Should an ex-felon that has paid their dues and served their time be prevented from being a hair dresser, barber, teacher, practice law, sell property or participate in the the financial services sector? No all should be allowed work if they have the skills to do the jobs. The licensure system in the US prevents millions of individuals from gainful employment with the false premise they are protecting society. In the end that protection backfires as the ex-felon that cannot find employment that is gainful or rewarding is then tempted to go back into a life of crime. Reform is needed and needed now to recreate a system of justice that is not punitive and one that rewards individuals that want to move forward and contribute verses one that hold individuals down and prevents advancement. The existing laws negatively impact BIPOC, minority and economically challenged communities disproportionately. If one wants to bring people forward and end violence on the streets and protests then we must begin crafting legislation that builds employment opportunities. Time for change is now. The book crafted is just one of many examples of policy change that needs to happen to build full employment for the masses. Pick up your copy today and then take action write your legislators and let’s get people back to work”. -Chris Edwards Author, Essayists, Mentor & Executive Coach
